Tour with the Tiberinos at the African American Museum
Not many contemporary art exhibitions let you stroll through alongside the artists themselves. Next month, the African American Museum in Philadelphia gives visitors that chance at its latest exhibit, “The Unflinching Eye: Works of the Tiberino Family Circle.” For two generations and almost 50 years, Powelton’s Tiberino family has been working in media as diverse as watercolor, mixed media murals, ceramics, stained glass and more. On Saturday, December 14, two members of the famous family will host a special walk-through of the show for a behind-the-scenes look at what inspired the work and the community of Philadelphia artists who created it.
Saturday, December 14, 1-2pm at the African American Museum in Philadelphia, 7th and Arch. Free with museum admission ($14 for adults, $10 for youth and students with valid ID, $10 for seniors and free for museum members). More information at http://www.aampmuseum.org/.
