This week in Philly music: Goodbye to Anonymous 4

The acclaimed all-women’s a cappella ensemble Anonymous 4 has recently announced that the 2015-16 concert season will be its last. There’s one more chance to hear them during the holidays in Philadelphia in a concert sponsored by the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society that includes songs and carols from medieval England, selections from their very first program Legends of Saint Nicholas, and early American songs. The concert will take place on Friday, December 11, at 8pm at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 1904 Walnut Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $10-24.

The Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia presents A Feast of Carols that includes selections by Stephen Paulus, a contemporary American composer, along with music from the African-American, Caribbean, and Celtic traditions. It features Michael Stairs on organ and Adrienne Knauer on harp, with Paul Rardin conducting. The concert will take place on Saturday, December 12 at 5pm at St. Paul’s Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia. Tickets are $22-42.

The Parker Quartet, currently artists-in-residence at Harvard University, pay a visit to Philadelphia in a program that features Beethoven’s String Quartet in F minor, Op. 95, “Serioso;” Schumann’s Quartet in A minor, Op. 41, No. 1; and Kurtág’s Hommage a Mihaly Andras — 12 microludes for String Quartet, Op. 13. The concert, which is sponsored by the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, will take place on Sunday, December 13 at 3pm at the American Philosophical Society, 427 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $10-24.
