Lyric Fest will debut songs based on the work of poets like Emily Dickinson.

The Lyric Fest art song series presents fast-paced programs packed with variety. Their season finale combines music and literature in a program featuring songs based on poems by American women poets. The poets range from famous lights like Emily Dickinson and Edith Wharton to newcomers still making their reputations. The composer roster starts with Aaron Copland and includes seven contemporary composers who have penned new works especially for this concert. Several of the new works were written specifically for guest soprano Kiera Duffy, who has been developing an international following since she became a Grand Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Auditions in 2007.

Lyric Fest’s Dear March — Come In — American Women Poets in Song is happening Friday, March 28 at 7:30pm at Bryn Mawr College’s Music Room in Goodhart Hall, 101 N. Merion Avenue, Bryn Mawr. There will be another performance on Sunday, March 30 at 3pm at The Academy of Vocal Arts, 1920 Spruce Street, Philadelphia. Tickets are $20 in advance online and $25 at the door. For tickets and more information, visit www.lyricfest.org or call 215-438-1702.
