The $450,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon foundation will be used to bring choreographers to campus for short-and long-term residencies. All six schools will benefit from classes and workshops, performances, and commissions of new work.

“It will provide significant opportunities for curricular development across disciplines, using guest choreographers to advance learning in the humanities as well as engineering and the sciences,” said Wendy Hill, provost and dean of the faculty at Lafayette College.

The first residency will bring Ben Munisteri to campus to teach Dance as an Art Form spring semester. He will also serve as principal choreographer-in-residence for the program, which began November 1 and will run through October 31 of next year.

The six schools are Cedar Crest, Lafayette, Moravian and Muhlenberg colleges and Lehigh and DeSales universities, all members of the Lehigh Valley Association of Independent Colleges (LVAIC).
