What are you doing New Year’s Eve? How about a bit of Bach before you head for dinner and whatever follows? End your year with a masterpiece by a great composer, performed by one of our region’s best choral groups, conducted by a Bach and Baroque specialist. On December 31, Choral Arts Philadelphia is offering a rare chance to hear Bach’s entire Christmas Oratorio. The oratorio is actually six cantatas related to Christmas, so conductor Matthew Glandorf is splitting it into halves. He’ll lead the first three cantatas from 4 to 5:30pm and the last three between 6:30 and 8pm. You can attend either half or both. Food and drink concessions will be available during the break.

Choral Arts Philadelphia will present Bach’s Christmas Oratorio on December 31 at 4:00pm (first half) and 6:30pm (second half) at Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, 13 S. 38th Street (between Chestnut and Market), Philadelphia. Tickets are $45 general admission, $30 seniors, $15 students, and they’re available at www.choralarts.com, 267-240-ALTO, and at the door.
