Just when you thought there couldn’t possibly be anything else to do in June in Philly — the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Association’s (RSFAA) 83rd annual June fine art show is happening June 6-8, rain or shine.

This year’s show will feature work from over 140 artists hailing from all over the US and Canada, and, according to the release, it’s “the longest running outdoor art show of exclusively original artwork in the entire country.”

The show began in 1932, when some local art students decided to exhibit their stuff on clotheslines in the park. Philly art lovers called it “The Clothesline Show.” The event continues to come full circle today by including the best emerging artists from the region’s schools.

Visitors and buyers can chat with the artists behind a wide range of works, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, and pastels, as well as sculptures, prints, and more. With all the shops and restaurants lining Rittenhouse Square, it’s a pretty sweet way to spend an early summer day downtown.

The Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Association’s 83rd annual June fine art show is coming up in Rittenhouse Square at Walnut and 18th Streets on June 6 and 7 from 11am-7pm, and June 8 from 11am-5pm. For more information, visit http://www.rittenhousesquareart.com/.
