Celebrate the season with strings on December 16th
1807 & Friends presents one of the most reliable chamber series available in the city. For their December concert, featuring the Wister Quartet, they’ll start out with two seasonable items: Corelli’s warm “Christmas Concerto” and Frederick Delius’s lighthearted portrait of a sleigh ride. They’ll finish with two of the most attractive works in the string quartet literature: the quartet in B flat major that Schubert wrote when he was still a teenager, and the quartet in G major Dvorak wrote after his return to Europe, which mixes Czech harmonies and rhythms with New World influences like American bird song.
1807 & Friends, Monday, December 16, 7:30 p.m. at the Academy of Vocal Arts, 1920 Spruce Street, Philadelphia. $17.00 [email protected] 215.438.4027 www.1807friends.org
