In 2023, we at BSR launched our first-ever webinars, and they were a hit! Now we're offering another live session of our 90-minute Zoom class on public relations, HELP US HELP YOU: A PR webinar for artists with the editors at BSR. It's happening from 6:30-8pm ET on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

Testimonials

Here are a few comments from Philly arts folks who took our inaugural PR webinar:

"We're so grateful that you took the time to provide such a resource for artists and arts organizations."

"Very helpful and a generous offer I haven't seen anywhere else."

"Your manner of instruction has a sense of clarity, which is super helpful. And you covered so much material so efficiently."

"Just wanted to let you know that your webinar was pure gold! Super-helpful and clear, I learned so much."

What will you learn?

We'll cover the difference between marketing and PR, understanding the arts journalist's role, and how an idea goes from pitch to published story in BSR. We'll also dive into what we need from you when you request coverage, dos and don'ts for building a good relationship with journalists, and how to keep a good perspective on "bad" reviews.

After about an hour of interactive instruction from Alaina (BSR's editor-in-chief), we'll open up a Q&A with two Philly PR experts: theater critic and communications strategist Jill Ivey and prolific publicist Frank Luzi, the founder and president of Luzi Media. Bring your questions!

This class is geared toward indie artists (of any genre, including performers, authors, filmmakers, podcasters, and more) who want an intro to PR, but it will also be valuable for experienced PR folks who want insight into the BSR editorial process, and to readers who want a behind-the-scenes look at arts coverage.

This session will be recorded, so everyone who registers can attend live or later, but of course, we recommend joining us live so you can participate in the Q&A! Plus, the class is fun.

How to register

Tickets are available for a suggested $25 donation to BSR. But if you really can't swing the $25, that's ok. There's an option to pay what you can on the ticket page. All donations make a difference to our nonprofit journalism outlet! Here's the RSVP page. As always, Friends of BSR (our monthly donors starting at $5/month) attend free.

Once you register, you'll receive a link to access the class when the time comes. Click, and you're in!

Hope you can join us!

Let folks in your network know about this resource. We want to help as many creative professionals as we can and keep the conversation going between artists and arts journalists. And when artists use our PR tips to contact us in the future, it's a huge win-win, making our jobs easier while boosting your chances of getting coverage.
