In 1737, the most popular composer in Germany, George Philip Telemann, visited the fabled salons of Paris and listened to performances of his quartets for flute, violin, cello, and harpsichord — works that have become some of the best loved music of the modern Baroque revival. Tempesta di Mare’s musicians can’t reproduce a French salon, but they can bring modern audiences the music itself, played on Baroque instruments, in a program that includes music by Telemann’s French contemporaries, along with his charming masterpieces. The Saturday night event even includes an intermission reception, with goodies and conversation.

Saturday, November 23, 8:00 p.m. at Arch Street Meeting House, 4th and Arch. Sunday, November 24, 4:00 p.m. at Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill, 8855 Germantown Avenue. $35-25, $20.00 seniors. More information at www.tempestdimare.org.
