The Tempesta di Mare Baroque Orchestra has received national and international acclaim for its recordings and concerts, but every musical organization can use more support from its home territory. Their second appearance at the Kimmel Center should expose them to a broader Philadelphia audience. Tempesta’s Baroque instruments will play 18th-century theater music that was originally played in halls comparable in size to the Perelman Theater. Works by three Baroque masters — Telemann, Marais, and Rebel — mingle Baroque dances and airs with music inspired by theatrical subjects like fires, storms, churning rivers, magicians, marching sailors, the love throes of Neptune, and the event commonly known as the Creation.

Tempesta di Mare’s ELEMENTS: Orchestral riffs on earth, air, fire and water takes place Saturday, June 7 at 8pm at the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater at Broad and Spruce Streets, Philadelphia. For tickets and prices, call 215-755-8776 or visit www.tempestadimare.org.
