Like Jimmy Stewart in a Hitchcock film

I attended All Aboard...And Then Some! because Jim Rutter gave it a good notice in Broad Street Review. I'm glad I caught it on its closing night. I just wanted to familiarize myself with a new group; I didn't expect to write about it.

Not only was the play's slapstick physical humor deliciously executed, it also had a low-key logical development that you don't normally expect to see in conjunction with pratfalls. The play's hero is an Everyman who finds himself caught up in some intriguing situations and, eventually, in a crime drama— something like Jimmy Stewart in a Hitchcock movie.

The only recognizable name (to me) in the cast was Sarah Gliko, whom I enjoyed as a chanteuse in Theatre Horizon's Holiday Show With the Swing Club Band and a versatile Broadway performer in The Musical of Musicals at the Walnut's Independence Studio. In All Aboard she was excellent in the non-singing role of a sexy gold-digging showgirl.

New theater companies are most welcome when they bring an individual approach to style (like, say, EgoPo) or genre (like Idiopathy) or subject matter (like 1812 or InterAct). Laugh Out Loud seems to qualify with a unique comedic approach.

I eagerly await Laugh Out Loud's future productions. Its next offering is a revue, Leading Men Don't Dance, in which leading men from Philadelphia's theater community will tell stories and jokes about their experiences onstage, and singing. After that, a similar revue with leading ladies.♦
