Shaila Kapoor’s writing examines meaning in everyday moments. Her memoir-in-progress explores the experience of a first generation American and the balance of living between two lands. Shaila holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and UCLA. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two children.

Shaila Kapoor was born to Indian immigrants and raised in the small town of Weatherford, Texas. She left Texas to attend college at the University of Pennsylvania where she double majored in economics and communications. She later earned her MBA from UCLA. Shaila has been an entrepreneur, a producer for public radio, and a consultant in education and marketing. She received various accolades for her work, including the Verizon President's Leadership Award and a Sprint Intrapreneurship commendation.
After the birth of her children, Shaila began to write about the moments that bind her family—the laughter, the sadness, the unexpected in the everyday. She is currently working on a memoir that captures the impact of culture on an Indian born in America. Excerpts from the book have been published in Hippocampus Magazine and India Currents.
