Erlina Ortiz graduated with a B.A. in Theater from Temple University and began playwriting and directing when she became a member of Power Street Theatre Company (PSTC). In 2016 her play She Wore Those Shoes had a development reading at Theatre Exile’s Studio X-hibition Series, and was produced at the Iron Factory by PSTC.

Erlina Ortiz graduated with a B.A. in Theater and a concentration in Acting from Temple University and began taking playwriting and directing a step further when she became a member of Power Street Theatre Company (PSTC).

Erlina wrote and directed Power Street's first production, MinorityLand, and has since had three other works presented with PSTC. Erlina has had the privilege to work as a director at Philadelphia Young Playwrights for the Paula Vogel Mentor's Project and for Temple's New Voices Workshop. She has been a playwright for the 2014 One Minute Play Festival at InterAct Theatre Company where she was an apprentice many years ago. Erlina was last seen onstage playing ‘La Muerte’ in Bodas de Sangre at the 2016 Fringe Festival. Erlina also originated the role of "Genesis" in her play Morir Sonyando, which premiered in 2014.

In 2016 her play She Wore Those Shoes had a development reading at Theatre Exile’s Studio X-hibition Series, and was produced at the Iron Factory by PSTC. This year Erlina also has the privilege of working as a bilingual educator with Mighty Writers El Futuro.

Brief encounters

Erlina Ortiz was awarded an Amtrak Writer's Residency and chose to take the Zephyr line from Chicago to San Francisco just a few days after the presidential inauguration. She found a few surprises in Trump's United States.
