Now that we're less than a week from Election Day 2024, it can feel hard to read or even think about anything else. I echo many people who suggest channeling your energy into some action, however small, to reach into your community and get people to the polls. Make your own plan to get there if you haven't voted already, and once you've done that, ask yourself who might need a helping hand to vote. Maybe that's help finding a polling place, maybe it's a ride, maybe it's an hour or two of childcare, maybe you pick up dinner while they wait in line to vote.
As the artists of To the Polls 2024 discussed with me a month ago, voter turnout in Philly, maybe more than in any other city, is poised to decide the Presidential election. That includes tens of thousands of BSR readers.
It helps me a bit to look past election day at the exciting events we have coming up -- because no matter what happens over the coming weeks, our community is going be here, and we need to keep fighting for each other. On November 6, I'm joining a panel of local industry leaders for a conversation on arts, journalism, and politics hosted by our friends at CultureWorks. It's free! Get your tickets here. And on November 21, our HELP US HELP YOU PR webinar is back! Reserve your virtual seat now. The cost is a suggested $25 donation to BSR, but there's a Pay What You Can option if you need it.
On to this week's stories. New reviews include The Thanksgiving Play at Curio and Every Brilliant Thing in Wilmington, OperaDelaware's La bohème, and the latest at the Barnes, which our critic calls "a party for your eyes." And more!
See you on the other side of Election Day.
