Philly has been full of beautiful music for the past week. Check out our reviews of the latest from the Philadelphia Orchestra, the bicentennial of the Musical Fund Society, and the return of Opera Philadelphia. Plus, anyone interested in modern education will want to read about a new book examining the fate of Germantown High School (closed after much controversy in 2013), and why it matters for everyone in town.
At BSR, we're also aware of the week's incendiary news: the Supreme Court seems poised to destroy our right to privacy (yup, that's what abortion rights are founded on—whether or not we realize it, this decision affects everyone). Last fall, I wrote about a Philadelphia rally for reproductive justice, because the loss of abortion rights is something our arts and culture community should pay attention to—and something we are uniquely equipped to fight.
