Our writers covered 35 Fringe shows in this year's fest. Not bad for an indie part-time team! Some of our longtime readers stepped up to donate in this busy season. Thanks for supporting local arts journalism! In perhaps our most stressful election year ever, it's important to remember that art can bridge the gap between different communities, connect us to our neighbors, and fight polarization by getting us off of our screens and out into public together.
This week, we've got the last of our 2024 Fringe reviews (catch up in our Reviews channel) as well as a new take on a John Millington Synge classic now onstage at the Drake (Cameron Kelsall gives it a rave). We're also heading to Delaware to review Kinky Boots. Look out a little later this week for Cameron's review of the world premiere of James Ijames's GOOD BONES in NYC at The Public Theater.
As October gets underway, there is a lot of media coverage that the BSR team will (gladly) leave to political reporters while we continue our work as locally focused cultural critics. Every time you click on BSR, you're disrupting the echo chamber of national news, where a new outrage burns through all the political headlines, newsletters, and podcasts every few days. But we know the impact that the looming election has on our community, and we'll keep asking: Have you checked your voter registration and made a plan to vote on or before November 5? It's time.
