Dear BSR Subscriber,
The latest BSR reviews are in.
Looking at this week's lineup of new stories, they seem to be full of arrivals and departures, from a hit retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice (a foiled escape that's been on our minds for centuries) to a compelling, beautifully told journey around and across our own city's borders. The story onstage at Theatre Exile kicks off with a homecoming, and a Wayne Thiebaud retrospective lands in our region less than two months after the long-lived artist himself departed us.
Hell of a show
Cameron Kelsall

View
Critic Cameron Kelsall says Hadestown is some of the best musical theater of the last decade, and this touring production lives up to the hype.

View
Yes, this retrospective features the artist's delicious, multi-layered, much-loved dessert paintings, but there's also much more here, says critic Gail Obenreder.

Too far from Philly
Josh Herren
Theatre Exile’s Motherf**cker with the Hat moves the setting of the hit play from New York to Philadelphia, with mixed results. Josh Herren reviews.
View
A big hit when it premiered more than a decade ago, The Motherf**cker with the Hat ends up "oddly lifeless" in this Philly production, says critic Josh Herren.

Such devoted sisters
Kirsten Bowen
